Mobile app development

Apps that people use every day: airline bookings, fuel payments at the pump, insurance claims, news, television. Mitigate builds native and cross-platform mobile apps together with the backend and the admin tools behind them.

What we do

  • Native apps - Swift and SwiftUI for iOS, Kotlin and Coroutines for Android, when performance, device features or the platform's own look matter most.
  • Cross-platform apps - React Native and Flutter, when one codebase for both platforms is the better investment.
  • TV and large screens - Android TV, Tizen (Samsung) and WebOS (LG) apps for streaming services.
  • Backend and admin - the API, the data model and the back-office tools the app depends on, usually in Ruby on Rails or Node.js.
  • Payments, identity and devices - card payments, loyalty programmes, push notifications, Bluetooth and IoT devices, maps and location.

We also take over existing apps: a rebuild of an app that has been in the stores for years, a move from a hybrid framework to native code, or a new backend under an app that users already have.

How we work

A mobile project starts with the user flows and the data the app needs, not with screens. We prototype in Figma and test the flows with users where possible, then build in short iterations with TestFlight and Google Play internal testing builds, so you can try the app on your own phone from the first weeks. Releases go through the App Store and Google Play with our help, and after launch we monitor crashes and performance.

Like every project, mobile work follows the Mitigate model: fixed roles, a communication plan, a time plan with deliverables and agreed change management. If the app is one channel of a larger system, the custom software team builds the web platform on the same backend.

Who it is for

  • Companies with a large customer base whose app is a main channel: airlines, fuel and retail, insurance, media, utilities.
  • Organisations that need a field app for employees: time tracking, deliveries, inspections, service work.
  • Businesses that started with a web platform and now need a mobile companion for it.
  • Media and streaming companies that need the same service on phones, tablets and TVs.

What you get

  • The apps published in the App Store and Google Play under your own developer accounts.
  • The backend, the API and the admin tools behind the app, with their source code, tests and CI/CD.
  • Store listings, crash and performance monitoring and a release routine for updates.
  • Support after launch: operating system updates, new device sizes, fixes and new features from the same team.
